Hedy Lamarr was an Austrian-American actress and inventor who pioneered the technology that would one day form the basis for today's WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth communication systems. She was born on November 9th, 1994 in Vienna, Austria to a Jewish Family. Her father would explain how machines worked from an early age. She was brought in to acting business at the age of 16. Lamarr received several awards for her invention, including the 1997 Pioneer Award from the Electronic Frontier Foundation for her contributions to the field of spread-spectrum technology. She died in Florida in the year 2000.
